Solid Waste Forum Urges Support for Mattress Recycling Bill

Housatonic River Cleanup Set Saturday

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Volunteers are invited to help clean up the west branch of the Housatonic River with Berkshire Environmental Action Team and Housatonic Valley Association on Saturday, July 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.    After the cleanup, volunteers will be provided a free hot lunch from a local restaurant. Pittsfield Mayoral Candidates Discuss Housing, Taxes in Debate

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Three mayoral candidates delved into housing, taxes, and city economics during a debate hosted by streaming show "It's Pittsfield Tonight" last week.

Moderated by the video blog's creator Michael Daly, Peter Marchetti, Karen Kalinowsky, and John Krol answered the community's pressing questions.

Marchetti and Kalinowsky, both current city councilors, ran for the office in the past, and Krol is a former councilor.

State Allocates $330K for 2 Berkshire Dam Projects

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Two Berkshire County dam projects were among 21 across the state receiving funding from the state's Dam and Seawall Program.   Pittsfield's Sandwash Reservoir dam rehabilitation project is receiving $250,000 toward design and permitting; the Plunkett Dam spillway in Hinsdale is getting $82,500 for design and permitting.    The Sandwash Reservoir is owned by the city of Pittsfield but located in the town of Washington. It flows into the Farnham Reservoir and from there into the Ashley intake to the Ashley Water Treatment Plant. While considered low risk as of 2019, a breach of the dam would send up to 260 million gallons of water into both

LENOX, Mass. -- Beginning soccer players in pre-kindergarten through fourth grade are welcome to join the Mighty Kickers program this fall.   The development program is open to children from any community.
