 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — State Senator Paul Mark will join the 350ma-Berkshires' monthly meeting on Weds., March 15, at 6:15 p.m. to discuss the issue of hydrogen and three important bills before the legislature. The public is invited. Also, all are invited to join the nationwide divestment demonstration on Tuesday, March 21, from 4:30 to 6 pm at Pittsfield's Park Square sponsored by the 350ma-Berkshires node and Third Act. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Conservation Commission has green-lit the latest Ashuwillticook Rail Trail extension.
Last week, the panel issued 34 orders of conditions for the project, which includes a 10-foot paved multi-use path that runs from Crane Avenue to Merrill Road. The commission added a requirement for polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) soil testing after Jonathan Lothrop expressed concern about the pollutants.
Following conversation at the last meeting, he said it seemed like the project was geared up for possible contaminants from railroad ties and is concerned about PCB contamination, as there is a remediated site to the west.

 WALTHAM, Mass. — National Grid has over 3,000 field personnel responding to power outages caused by downed limbs, trees, and poles resulting from the heavy snow and strong wind gusts of the Nor'easter impacting Massachusetts today. The storm, expected to persist until Wednesday morning, is bringing heavy, wet snow in parts of the state and whipping winds with gusts as strong as 65 mph along the coast, causing damage and power outages in some locations.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — At its first meeting of the year, the Community Development Board last week determined that subdivision approval is not required for an East Street car dealership and welcomed the city's new planner.
The Johnson family, which owns Johnson Ford at 694 East St. and 720 East St., want to divide the property to have its buildings on separate lots.
"The property is located on the southerly side of a street and is approximately 186 feet west of Lyman Street," said James Seidl of SK Design Group.

PITTSFIELD, Mass.— The School Committee has unanimously voted to adopt a safe firearm storage resolution as an effort to shield its students and staff from gun violence.
The resolution warrants communications to parents, guardians, and students on the importance of secure firearm storage as soon as possible, distributed to each school at least once annually, and included in the district website and student registration materials.
Additionally, it directs the superintendent to update the student handbooks with this information to continue work with local law enforcement, health agencies, and nonprofit organizations on the effort.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — On Friday, March 10 in Berkshire Superior Court Joshua Lofink was found guilty on all counts: 2 counts of Mayhem; 2 counts of Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon causing Serious Bodily Injury with a knife; and 2 counts of Vandalism, slashing tires on a car.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — City councilors may put the North Street ballot question to rest this Tuesday.
After weeks of confusion, the council at its last meeting voted against sending the question to City Clerk Michele Benjamin and Councilor at Large Pete White motioned to table with the intent to rescind in two weeks.
On Thursday, White confirmed that he still intends to motion to rescind this week.
Early this year, Councilor at Large Karen Kalinowsky put forward a petition to allow voters to decide if North Street should be two lanes with bike lanes or a four-lane way without. She has spoken against the bike lanes since being elected.
