PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A sign now commemorates the location of an incident that made President Teddy Roosevelt say, "If you're set on risking your life, go to Pittsfield, Mass., and take a trolley ride."
The Berkshire County Historical Society last week unveiled a new historical marker near the corner of South Street and Mountain Drive that commemorates the trolley accident which killed Secret Service Officer William Craig and injured Theodore Roosevelt.

 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The School Committee has tapped internal applicants for the interim assistant superintendent and special education director.
On Wednesday, Nicole Shepardson was appointed interim assistant superintendent of instruction, assessment, and educational engagement, and Melissa Brites was appointed the interim special education director.

 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A shed on West Housatonic Street burned up on Wednesday evening when a battery overheated. Deputy Chief Daniel Garner said the call came in at 7:59 p.m. for a reported structure fire at Soldier On. Engine 1 found the large, open-air shed, about 500 square feet in size, fully involved with fire. The crew advanced a hoseline to attack the blaze and Tower 1 arrived with a second line to protect the main Soldier On building from fire impingement and radiant heat exposure.  DALTON, Mass. — The results from the May 12 local election changed little from the recount on Wednesday morning; however, the results revealed instances of bullet voting. The results on May 12 showed that Antonio "Tony" Pagliarulo won one of the two seats in the four-way race with 577 votes for the board, outpolling the other three candidates by 107 votes. In second was incumbent Marc Strout with 486. William Drosehn, chair of the Finance Committee, was 13 votes behind at 473, and Robert Collins had 459 votes. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The General Electric Athletic Golf Course's onsite restaurant has new operators.
On Monday, the Licensing Board approved an All-Alcohol Restaurant License transfer from House of Seasoning, a change of license location, and a change of manager for the Crane Avenue establishment. It is now operated by Skyline at the A Inc., doing business as Tavern at the A.
The eatery was shuttered last summer, and former operator Hailey Satrape finally surrendered the existing liquor license before it was revoked.
