WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Due to COVID - 19, the 11th annual Mathias Bartels Community Nordic Ski event is going virtual and global. Skiers will be able to participate anytime during the week of Feb 14 through the 21. Participants can ski, run or choose another outdoor activity. Participants are asked to take a photo or video of themselves and to submit it no later than Feb 22. LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — Mount Greylock State Reservation staff last week reported a quiet late fall and winter on the mountain but noted currently snow conditions are perfect. "There is great snow right now, and there are so many people up there loving the snow," Becky Barnes of the state Department of Conservation and Recreation told the Mount Greylock Advisory Council on Thursday. "We have a ton of snowmobiles on the trails and a ton of skiers using the Thunderbolt [trail]. It is packed down." In the recent past, the mountain has gone some winters with spotty snow coverage. Berkshire Natural Resources Council, Bousquet Mountain and Mill Town Capital on Wednesday re-opened the improved trail to the cobble, a conservation reserve owned and managed by BNRC.
