PITTSFIELD, Mass. — After receiving an extensive makeover, Ski Bousquet will open this winter with many new — and some old — features.

The most obvious renovation is the modern 15,000-square-foot lodge that greets visitors from Dan Fox Drive.  

A far cry from the original, more than 50-year-old facility, it features a gathering space, expanded dining options, a full bar, and plenty of outdoor seating. The building was designed by Allegrone Construction.

Skiers and snowboarders can still frequent their favorite trails such as Drifter, Russell, Parker, Main Street, and the intimidating Icicles if they dare.

  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Deciding where you are going to go to college can be a long, painstaking process that stretches out over months.   Or, sometimes, you just know.   Taconic senior Sam Sherman has known for a long time that he could play college baseball, and he had been talking to several different schools about his future plans.   Merrimack College was not one of those schools until very recently.   "It was one of my last fall games, I just reached out to them, I had never talked to them before," Sherman said. On Friday at 6 p.m. Berkshire Hills Country Club will host the UNICO of Pittsfield Induction dinner for five new members of the Pittsfield Baseball/Softball Hall of Fame.   They will join 133 others who have been inducted since 1996.   The 2021 inductees are:   ♦ Jaclyn Candele, a 2007 graduate of Taconic High School. While Candalet was a member of the softball team, Taconic won a Western Mass championship and finished as finalists in the state tournament. It also was a three-time Berkshire County Northern Division champion, four-time city champions and undefeated in her senior year. BOSTON — In honor of Veteran's Day, the Baker-Polito Administration will once again waive parking fees at all Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) state parks throughout the state on Thursday, November 11, 2021.    Additionally, interpretive programming will also be offered at state parks during the upcoming holiday weekend. PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Big plays were the order of the night at the Berkshire County Youth Football League Super Bowls.   The Lanesborough-Pittsfield Tiger-Saints used them to roll over Adams-Cheshire in the Junior Division title game.   Adams-Cheshire then scored on runs of 48, 49 and 50 yards to earn a one-score win over Lee in the Senior Division season finale at Berkshire Community College's Gene Dellea Field.   Junior Division Lilyana Ferris and Benjamin Sykes drove the Tiger-Saints' offense, which scored 26 straight points to secure a 40-6 win.   Sykes scored on a 59-yard touchdown to help his team take a 14-0 lead and ran back a kickoff 55 yards to answer

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Hockey players from Pittsfield, some currently local and others traveling from across the   country, will gather on Friday, Nov. 26, at 4 p.m. for a memorial hockey game in honor of Marc Parrott at the Boys & Girls Club of the Berkshires.   Parrott passed away on Aug. 10, leaving a legacy as a devoted husband and father. He was a native of Pittsfield and longtime Boston sports fanatic. He was a local baseball and hockey standout in his early years playing in the South Little League and Boys Club Hockey Program. PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Pittsfield Parks Speed Skating Club will begin skating Oct. 31 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club on Melville Street.   Beginners, people interested in good exercise and those interested in racing will join people of all ages for this fun activity.   The club offers a free trial session. DALTON, Mass. -- Pairs of golfers in four divisions took home honors at Wednesday's Berkshire County Fall Senior Golf event at Wahconah Country Club.   Paul Briggs and Ron Carver won the Blue Gross Division with a score of 67. The Blue Net Division went to Dennis Boldyga and Robert Smith with a 59.   In the Green Division, the gross title went to Bill Gates and Paul Traversa.
