SALISBURY, Md. – The Ohio Energy Alderman 16-and-under softball team Friday scored four runs in the last two innings to take a 7-3 win that eliminated the Mass Destruction from the USSSA Eastern Championship. The Destruction came back from deficits of 2-0 and 3-2 to twice tie the game. Nevaeh Lopez and Natalie Arnhold each had two hits, including a triple, for the Destruction, which collected six hits. Skipper is an energetic year-old hound mix who would love to have some older kids to play with. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — With more than 140 animals currently at the Berkshire Human Society, there is a furry friend for everyone looking to adopt. The shelter has 144 animals looking for new homes, down from more than 160 at its recent peak. These include dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, rats and a bird with different personalities and life stories. And Berkshire Humane needs to find these animals homes because there are even more waiting to enter the shelter. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — On Friday July 28, 2023, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health confirmed a second result of West Nile Virus in weekly samples of mosquitoes collected by the Berkshire County Mosquito Control Project in the City of Pittsfield. The sample was taken in the vicinity of Elm Street and Williams Street. There is no current confirmed human case of West Nile Virus in the City of Pittsfield. DALTON, Mass. — The Fire District has received a certified letter from the city of Pittsfield claiming that it has consistently been using more than the 46 million gallons of water per month allotted to the town. The city is claiming that the district is using 66 million gallons of water per month, Water Superintendent Bob Benlien told the Board of Water Commissioners on Tuesday. In the past, Benlien has been dealing with Pittsfield's Cleveland treatment plant operators regarding this and he has checked all the district meters at the pump stations and had them calibrated, he said.
