 DALTON, Mass. — The Fire Department received a donation of more than 2,352 cans of emergency drinking water from Anheuser-Busch and Girardi Distributors on Friday morning. The donation will be stored in the department's cooler and distributed at fire scenes on hot summer days or made readily available to the firefighters when combating a fire, interim Fire Chief Robert Czerwinski said. Anheuser-Busch partners with the National Volunteer Fire Council to provide emergency drinking water to volunteer fire departments so they can focus their limited resources on other things. DALTON, Mass. — The Fitch-Hoose House museum is in need of a paint job. Historical Commission co-Chair Louisa M. Horth said at Wednesday's meeting that the paint is starting to peel and weather, and would need to be repainted this year or next year. Commissioners are unsure how much the project would cost but will approach Town Manager Thomas Hutcheson to inquire on the best way to get funding for the project. In 2014, the Historical Commission got a grant from the "Promoting Community Development and Tourism in Central and Western Massachusetts" program in the amount of $180,000 grant to restore the 1840s-era house.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Berkshire Athenaeum is establishing a Teen Advisory Board to facilitate the involvement of young residents in their community.
The panel of 13- to 18-year-old volunteers will take the lead on generating ideas, implementing programs, and promoting youth library services. Meetings will begin in September.
Currently in the planning stages, the board was prioritized in the library's strategic plan. Young Adult Librarian Vanessa Justice, who has been at the library for about a month, found it an important item to address.

DALTON, Mass. — A discussion was introduced on enacting conflicts of interest policies for all committees and boards during the Zoning Board of Appeals meeting on Tuesday night. The conversation was following the announcement that the town's insurer, Massachusetts Interlocal Insurance Association, inquired whether the board had specific written policies and procedures in place to help avoid conflicts of interest. The Berkshire Pottery Tour was founded by a group of pottery friends who met at the Berkshire Art Center (then IS 183) in 2013.
