PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Taconic High School graduates were told to stay resilient while seated in caps and gowns on the soggy grass. The rain eased right before Taconic's 54th graduation ceremony on Sunday. Families, friends, and alumni gathered on the school's lawn in raincoats and smiles to celebrate 190 graduates.
"This rain is a symbol of life's moments that are outside our control, just as you're experiencing right now. Your resilience is about embracing these moments, finding the positives, and turning them into memories," Principal Matthew Bishop said.

 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Egremont Elementary School students in Elaine Hunter's prekindergarten inclusive classroom made their stage debut on Tuesday with a performance of Eric Carle's "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." The district administration, school committee members, and students' families gathered around the cafeteria's stage to watch as students performed the transformation of a very hungry caterpillar into a beautiful butterfly. DALTON, Mass. — The library trustees navigated the best way to spend the state aid during their meeting on Monday evening. This year, the library received $19,928.23 from state aid, which has to be used to improve the library and the patron experience. The library receives two state aid disbursements every year. The amounts vary annually based on population and other factors. Library Director Janet Forest said she is interested in having the library invest in a screen and a projector.  LENOX, Mass. — Lenox Memorial High School has named Genevieve Collins as valedictorian and Alice Culver the salutatorian of the class of 2024. Graduation ceremonies will be held on Sunday, June 9, at 1 p.m. at Tanglewood. Collins, daughter of Edward and Deanna Collins of Lenox, is a member of National Honor Society and National Art Honor Society. She is a captain of the Lenox track and field and cross-country teams, as well as a peer mentor. She has spent 12 years singing for the choir at St. Ann's Church in Lenox, and has sung in the All-State chorus in 2022 and 2023.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The senior class at Pittsfield High School has elected Frankielys Payano De La Cruz, Abigail Malumphy, Brooke Tripicco to speak at graduation this Sunday, June 9, at 4 p.m. The ceremony will return to the grounds of Tanglewood in Lenox this year after a five-year hiatus.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — For the 2024-2025 academic year, Berkshire Music School (BMS) will offer increased need-based financial aid for private lessons, as well as talent- and merit-based scholarships to attract musicians in the region. Students accepted into BMS' Talent & Merit Scholarship Program will benefit from financial assistance, up to 100 percent tuition. In the 2023-2024 academic year, Berkshire Music School awarded more than $28,000 in need-based financial aid and merit-based scholarships to 32 students.
