 Only recently have investors' focus shifted from $120 a barrel of oil to the soaring price of natural gas. Given the many uses of natural gas, from heating and cooling and generating electricity to the production of plastics and petrochemicals, the direction of prices could be critical to our economic well-being. On Wednesday, June 8, 2022, natural gas prices fell over 10 percent after a fire at a Texas liquified natural gas (LNG) export terminal shut down the Freeport LNG facility for at least three weeks.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A sport utility vehicle was T-boned and flipped by a white Jeep Cherokee at the intersection of East Housatonic Street and upper Pomeroy Avenue early Wednesday evening. There were no serious injuries and no criminal charges reported. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Taxicab Commission has approved a long-awaited rate increase for County Rainbow Taxi. Last Wednesday, the panel voted to change the city's ordinance that caps the rate at $2.50 and 30 cents for each additional 1/8 of a mile thereafter to $3.50 and 40 cents.
The increase required an amendment of the City Code Chapter 21, Sections 21 to 23.
Manager Rick Knights explained that the rate was changed in March because the company was concerned about keeping drivers.
"That was the main goal," he said. "That money went directly to them."
Knights also said Rainbow Taxi is really a service that the owners, the Renzi family, provides and that

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Nips are safe in the city for now. Local liquor store owners persuaded the Ordinances and Rules subcommittee to reject a citywide nip bottle ban on Monday.
The panel unanimously voted against a petition from attorney Rinaldo Del Gallo III requesting to ban the sale of the miniature booze bottles in Pittsfield.
Owners of Harte's Package and Variety, Hashim's Package Store, Liquor's Inc., Chico's Wine and Spirits, and George's Liquor Store and Berkshire Wine and Liquors attended the meeting to speak against to ordinance. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — COVID-19 cases are declining in the city but it remains in the "red zone." "While we're going down on the numbers, we're still not where we want to be,” Director of Public Health Andy Cambi said to the Board of Health on Wednesday.
A week ago, the percent positivity rate was 11.5, down from 14.7 in mid-May. The average case rate was 73.1 per 100,000 people, which is significantly less than the rate of 133.3 in mid-May. Pittsfield entered the red incidence rate for transmission in April when the positivity rate rose to 5.3 percent.
