Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall is Coming to the Dalton

DALTON, Mass. — The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall is visiting the American Legion from Friday, Sept. 15 through the 17th.    The wall, also referred to as "The Healing Wall," honors the fallen military personnel of the Vietnam War and acts as a reminder of the sacrifices they made.    The names of 58,311 casualties are listed on the 6-foot-tall wall that spans 300 feet.    For many, traveling to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., is not possible. Pittsfield Ward Candidates Talk Police, Blight, Charter Objections

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Candidates for Ward 2 and 7 weighed in on topics ranging from policing to charter objections on Tuesday during a series of debates hosted by Pittsfield Community Television and iBerkshires.


Brittany Bandani and Alexander Blumin prepare to debate on Tuesday; a third Ward 2 candidate, Soncere Williams, was unable to attend.

The Ward 2 debate featured Brittany Bandani and Alexander Blumin and the Ward 7 debate incumbent Anthony Maffuccio and challenger Rhonda Serre. Soncere Williams is also running for Ward 2 and Jonathan Morey is running for Ward 7 but neither was able to attend Tuesday's debates at the Berkshire Athenaeum.

Governor Nominates New Parole Board Member

Liann Bordeau-Buck Memorial Foundation Holds Golf Tournament

Lanesborough Connector Road Closures for Repaving

LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — The Connector Road (Mall Road) will be closed to through traffic for several days in September for milling and resurfacing.    The byway between Route 7 and Route 8 will be closed from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5; Wednesday, Sept. 6, and Thursday, Sept. 7; and again from Monday, Sept. 11, to Wednesday, Sept. 13.    It will be open overnight on those dates.    Dates may change depending upon weather, any updates to closure dates will be posted.

Berkshire Athenaeum Announces 2023 Short Story Contest Winners

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Berkshire Athenaeum, Pittsfield's Public Library, and the Friends of the Berkshire Athenaeum announced the winners of the 45th Annual Short Story Writing Contest for Children and the 26th Annual Short Story Writing Contest for Young Adults.   Entries were combined into four age categories with a total of 31 submissions. A committee of judges read through the submissions and rated the entries on originality, appeal, writing style, and artwork, if applicable. Berkshire Health Systems Announces Paving at BMC Main Entrance

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Health Systems (BHS) announced blacktop removal and paving at the main entrance of Berkshire Medical Center as part of the ongoing mechanical infrastructure work at the neighboring Medical Arts Complex (MAC).     On Tuesday, Sept. 5, contractors will remove blacktop from the northbound lane of the main driveway entrance to the hospital at 725 North Street. Traffic will move to the southbound lane at various points during the day. Paving will take place on Wednesday, September 6, and similar traffic restrictions will apply.     Flaggers will be onsite for both days to manage traffic while the work takes place. Please allow
