BHS Alters Days and Hours for COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics08:00AM / Thursday, February 02, 2023 | | PITTSFIELD, Mass. — In the wake of a significant reduction in demand for the COVID-19 vaccine, Berkshire Health Systems has adjusted its availability for its vaccine centers in Pittsfield and North Adams. Effective on Monday, Feb. 6, COVID vaccination will be available only two days per week in Pittsfield and one day per week in North Adams for adults, and a Pediatric vaccine clinic will be held on a Friday once each month in Pittsfield. LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — After several months of negotiating with the property owner, the proposed $5.9 million police and ambulance building has a location: 405 South Main St. The 9-acre parcel, the site of the driving range for the former Skyline Country Club, is owned by Pittsfield's Mill Town Capital and its purchase will require approval at a special town meeting. Kristen Tool, chair of the Police Station Building Committee, gave a presentation on the property at Monday's Select Board meeting. The Massachusetts closures in this second round include the Burlington, Raynham, North Dartmouth, and Dedham locations. The closing were announced last August and the company also intends laying off 20 percent of its corporate employees. Full list of store closures here. BCC '40 Under Forty' Awards to Resume Spring Schedule 01:49PM / Wednesday, February 01, 2023 | | PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Community College (BCC) announced it will host its 40 Under Forty awards in March 2024. The hiatus in 2023 will allow the event to get back on track after its annual springtime schedule was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. For the last two years, the event was held in September, whereas it historically takes place in March. The College plans to resume the springtime schedule, resetting the event with nominations opening this fall. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — In a historic move fueled by the growing demand for skilled tradespeople and the evolution of career technical education, the School Committee has decided that Taconic is a solely vocational school. On Tuesday, the committee unanimously voted to start the school's transition to all vocational, only accepting Career Technical Education (CTE) students beginning in the fall. The motion was followed by a round of applause. All new non-CTE students will attend Pittsfield High School and Taconic's remaining non-CTE students in Grades 10-12 will graduate as usual. Pittsfield Woman Pleads Guilty to Larceny04:28PM / Tuesday, January 31, 2023 | | PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Heidi Kushi pleaded guilty in Superior Court for two counts of larceny and was sentenced to state prison. On Monday, Jan. 30, Heidi Kushi, 57 years old of Pittsfield, pleaded guilty in Superior Court for two counts of larceny by single scheme. She was indited in July of 2019. The defendant was sentenced to 2 to 5 years in state prison, both counts concurrent, by Judge Agostini. Kushi, who began working for Donovan Construction in June 2013 as their accountant/bookkeeper, stole $138,772.72 during her time at the company. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — With all licensing secured, Hot Plate Brewery will have a soft opening on Thursday. Owners Sarah Real and Mike Dell'Aquila will debut the micro-brewery to the public with six beers on tap starting at 4 p.m. The Brooklyn, N.Y., transplants began planning their venture in the Berkshires two years ago, saying that the region seemed underserved from a craft beer perspective. "Hot Plate" was inspired by the equipment that the couple used to brew beer in the city when they lost heat and hot water for three years because of a code violation. On Monday, Licensing Board granted Hot Plate a weekday (Monday through Saturday) and Sunday entertainment license.

Parade Committee Chairman Peter Marchetti said about 17 ideas were tossed out by the committee. "All were good but we try to use a litmus test that works for all units and the judges on the reviewing stand," he said. On January 30, 2023, at approximately 9:13 am police, firefighters, and Action Ambulance responded to the 300 West St. area for a Pittsfield woman struck by a car. A 2015 Toyota Yaris operated by Loraine Utter, an 84-year-old Pittsfield resident, was traveling west on West St. in the 300 block when she struck two pedestrians who were crossing near Dorothy Amos Park.
